Coronation Street confirmed Adam Barlow's fate on the ITV soap, resulting in an on-screen exit for his ex and stalker Lydia Chambers on Wednesday night.
Corrie fans saw the immediate fallout to Adam being pushed off a balcony by Lydia during a heated showdown, where their past was finally explained.
Lydia let rip at him over his treatment of her years ago and Adam was left feeling momentarily guilty - but when he told her she should tell Sarah the truth, Lydia grew angrier than ever.
She confessed that he had cheated on her all the way through their romance, and when she herself fell pregnant with his baby he told her to get an abortion, which she did in secret.
Just as things appeared to calm down, his pleas for her to tell Sarah the truth led to Lydia pushing him, and he toppled over the balcony.
Wednesday night's episode saw Adam's family finally learn how he was doing, after a number of tests were run by doctors following the fall.
They confirmed he seemed to be okay, but that they had discovered a bleed behind his eye - after Adam confirmed he was having blurred vision.
Adam was taken down for surgery and as he was brought back up to the ward he was clearly in pain.
That said, doctors confirmed Adam was going to be okay and his sight was also good, while they wanted to keep him in for observation.
The episode saw the end of the storyline, ad Lydia and Adam made their peace and she left for good.
Sarah, Adam's wife, had told the police what she had done, and about all her lies leading to her being taken in.
But solicitor Adam left the hospital to help her, demanding to speak to the officers - claiming he fell from the balcony, and that she did not push him.
He refused to press charges against her for any of what had happened, meaning she was free to go.
As she went to leave the station she thanked Adam for what he did, before asking him if they could call a truce.
Adam agreed, with Lydia telling him: "Good luck with everything," as she walked away and left Weatherfield for good.
The soap recently confirmed the end of the storyline would air this month, and would lead to Lydia departing the show.
