XSEED Games and MAGES confirmed that Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion is releasing in North America this Fall 2024. The game is launching for the PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. It's also coming out in Europe at the same time.
Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion follows the story of three high school friends Haruka Nanami, Nemu Takanashi, and Maria Hitsugi. They're exploring the Amare Est Vivere Hospital to test a local urban legend. In addition, the streamer Nemu also hopes to boost her subscriber count by doing this. The problem is that the legend of "Ayame's Mercy" is actually true, and the three girls seem to have triggered a curse that's decades old which sends them to a dark realm. Now they'll have to work together and look for a way to dispel the curse of Ayame Kirishima. However, at the same time they'll need to avoid the vengeful spirit of Ayame while also trying to survive the other horrors from the hospital's dark past.
Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion brings back the cult-classic Japanese horror Corpse Party franchise and introduces new characters, a new setting, and a terrifying new curse. It also brings with it a new look to give players more chills and thrills.
New Perspective
In the game, players get to explore freely the fully 3D rendered halls of the Amare Est Vivere Hospital. They can do it in third-person, or for those brave enough, a first-person viewpoint. This new perspective complements the visual novel-style storytelling of the series. Making the game even more exciting are the updated visuals with gruesome descriptions combined with spine-tingling binaural audio by the original Japanese voiceovers.
A Lot of Content
Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion offers six chapters along with eight extra scenarios. There are also a lot of Wrong Ends for players to discover as they learn more about "Ayame's Mercy" and try to escape with their lives. Longtime fans of the franchise are sure to be on the edge of their seats with this game while it also serves as a good entry point for those new to the series.
