Coronavirus rates continue to fall as some Greater Manchester boroughs see infections drop by more than 40 per cent

Coronavirus infection rates have continued to fall in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

And latest figures have revealed that in four boroughs, rates have dropped by 40 per cent or more week on week.

They are Oldham, Bury, Bolton and Tameside.

Trafford now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester, replacing Stockport.

The borough recorded a rate of 384.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending February 13.

The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 251.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 321.8 cases per 100,000 population.

The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 538.4 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 9,125 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on February 13.

The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 5090 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 36 per cent in the last week..

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on February 13, a total of 425 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 113 fewer than the week before, a fall of 36 per cent.

On Tuesday February 15, there were 27 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two more than a week earlier.

Deaths

In the week ending February 13, a total of 39 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 40 fewer than the week before.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 889,879 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 8,710 deaths.

Bolton

There was a fall of 41 per cent in cases in Bolton over the week ending February 13, and the infection rate is now 297.7 cases per 100,000 population.

Bolton recorded 858 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 608 fewer than the previous week.

Manchester

Manchester recorded 1822 coronavirus cases, which is 788 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Manchester is 327.9 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 30 per cent week-on-week.

Stockport

There were 1097 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 700 fewer than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 39 per cent and the latest infection rate is 372.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Tameside

Tameside saw a total of 701 cases in the week ending February 13, which is 527 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 43 per cent.

In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 308.7 cases per 100,000 people.

Oldham

Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 598 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 13, which is 394 fewer than the previous 7 days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 251.7 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 40 per cent week-on-week.

Rochdale

Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 286.1 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 640 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 333 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 34 per cent.

Trafford

In Trafford, there were 913 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 13, which is 343 fewer than the previous 7 days.

Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 27 per cent.

Salford

In Salford, the latest infection rate is 331.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 35 per cent.

A total of 870 people tested positive for Covid in Salford over the seven days ending on February 13, which is 473 fewer than the week before.

Bury

In Bury, the number of cases is down by 41 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 288.4 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 550 positive Covid-19 tests in Bury in the week ending February 13, which was 386 fewer than the previous 7 days.

Wigan

The trend is down in Wigan, where there were 1076 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 13, which is 538 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 33 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Wigan is 325.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
