Coronation's Street actress Sue Nicholls was contacted by a clever viewer who may have saved the star's life. A concerned fan contacted Sue who plays Audrey and recommended she get a mole checked out by her doctor.
The cancerous mole was spotted by the fan while they were watching an episode of the soap. Anna Bianconi-Moore is an expert when it comes to recognising the worrying signs of potential skin cancer. She works as a specialist skincare nurse which is how she noticed the mole.
The mole was on show during a scene where Sue was wearing a night dress which is when Anna spotted the mole on her shoulder. She noticed that it was irregular in shape and had at least three different colours which were worrying.

Two of those are potential signs that it could be a deadly form of skin cancer which is commonly known as malignant melanoma. As a nurse and a fan of Coronation Street, Anna felt she needed to act fast.
She wrote to the star and told her that she had observed a strange mole while suggesting that she needed to see a specialist sooner than later. She felt that the mole needed urgent medical attention to stop it from progressing.
In a statement from ITV, it was revealed that Sue took action and later discovered that the mole had turned into melanoma.
The statement read: “Whilst millions watched the same scene in their living rooms at home, specialist skincare nurse Anna was able to diagnose the blemish as malignant melanoma after pausing the TV and taking a closer look.
“In the end, almost a year passed before Sue had the mole removed and the diagnosis of malignant melanoma was confirmed. The actress then appealed for the viewer to get back in touch."
Sue and Anna met on the set of Coronation Street so that she could thank the nurse in person for saving her life.
