Coronation Street star Alex Bain has reportedly split from his fiancee just six months after the pair got engaged. The 21-year-old actor, who has played Simon Barlow for over 15 years, is said to have split up with fiancée Mollie Lockwood last month after three years together, writes The Mirror.
The pair are said to be "gutted" that their relationship didn't work out and their pals have been rallying around them for support. Last year Alex - who is dad to four-year-old daughter Lydia-Rose with ex-girlfriend Levi Selby - spoke about proposing and said that he "couldn't spend [his] life with anyone else".
A source told The Sun: "Their mates have rallied around to support them and keep them busy. Simon is focused on the soap and getting stuck into storylines and his role.”
In October last year, Alex asked Mollie to marry him during a romantic night out in Chester on their two-year anniversary.
The pair had had a meal out before they returned to their hotel room and watched the sunset from the balcony when Alex got down on one knee.
Speaking to OK! magazine last year, Alex said: "That’s when I just asked her. I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll keep getting more and more nervous!’ I was pretty certain she’d say yes, but I was still bricking it!"
