Sair Khan has signed a year long contract with Coronation Street amid a love triangle twist on the soap.
The actress - who plays Alya Nazir - will be on the cobbles for at least another year, amid a huge love triangle storyline between her, Ryan Connor, Daisy Midgeley and Daniel Osbourne. Alya has been really supportive of Ryan since he was hit by acid in a devastating attack by evil Justin, with the corrosive liquid meant to scar his friend Daisy.
Amid his struggles, Ryan has found comfort in his ex Alya, with there being a brief hope the two could get back together before she quickly shut him down, not ready for a romance just yet as she deals with the traumatic events in her life.
It's been confirmed that sparks will start flying between Ryan and Daisy as she supports him through his own recovery, but with Daisy still very much engaged to Daniel, a potential romance will no doubt cause some trouble.
Alya could have a huge part to play in this as she has signed up to another year on the ITV soap.
A source told The Sun: "Sair has signed a new contract that starts in June and keeps her on the soap for another year. She’s a huge fan favourite and all of the cast and crew love her - everyone who works there is so pleased she’s sticking around."
It comes after Daisy actress Charlotte Jordan teased her character will fall for Ryan.
She told Metro of what's to come: "It's going to be a really confusing time for Daisy. She’s brushed her own recovery under the rug and is really focusing on Ryan. She feels responsible for him so her feelings are going to get really messy and she’s going to get confused it’s going to get quite chaotic. Then the story may morph into a 'can you love two people at once?' storyline."
However, with Daniel and Daisy still very much engaged, these sparks could cause problems.
"There are different ways it can go but it does get very complicated. There’s this thing that happens when you endure extreme trauma with someone, it kind of bonds you together," Ryan Prescott, who plays the bartender on the soap, added.
