Coronation Street star Sam Aston and wife Briony announced they have welcomed their third child together.
The actor, 30, revealed they had welcomed a daughter as he shared a number of photos from their home water birth on Instagram on Tuesday.
In the photos the couple were all smiles as they cradled the newborn and shared their little ones name.
The soap star and his other half also posed for the first time as a family of five with their two other children Sonny, three and Daisy, two.
Captioning the post, the ITV star wrote: “Welcome to the world...Hazel Marie Aston. 07.05.24 8lbs 15oz”.
The couple has openly discussed experiencing two heartbreaking miscarriages within a span of four months.
The pair, who tied the knot in 2019, revealed that they were expecting twins last year but tragically lost one due to Vanishing Twin Syndrome, which occurs when one foetus stops growing and the mother's body absorbs the embryo.
In an interview with OK! magazine at the time, the couple stated their pregnancy was “very bittersweet”.
Briony shared: “We were excited and thankful, because we always wanted a baby that was healthy. Then we started thinking,
“We could have had two… Will the living twin always wonder, ‘What if?’ and ‘will they feel lonely?’ We found ourselves questioning what could have been, while feeling grateful for what we've got.”
The couple were told that Briony was expecting non-identical twins after a midwife discovered the remaining amniotic sac during an ultrasound scan.
She added: “If we hadn't had the early scan, I wouldn't even have known. But it does explain why I was so sick and tired this time around compared to my other pregnancies.”
Last August, Briony was left in tears as she spoke about her heartbreaking miscarriages on Loose Women after opening up about suffering two miscarriages within just four months of each other.
Appearing on the show alongside her husband, she revealed that neither pregnancy reached 12 weeks and that while it has been tough, other women sharing their stories helped her heal.
She said: “It would have been so much harder for me without listening to other peoples stories.
“I had hundred and hundred of messages to share their similar experiences. I felt very pleased that I had done it. There is support there and it helped me known that I wasn't alone.”
