Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan welcomes first child and shares beautiful name

Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan has announced she has given birth a baby girl, who she and husband Dan Acraman have named Aurora.

The actor, who played Lydia Chambers in the soap until last year, shared an adorable photo of the baby in a stripy onsie with her eyes closed, writing in the caption: "Welcome to the world my beautiful baby girl Aurora."

Fellow celebs such as co-star Mollie Gallagher and Julia Goulding rushed to give their congratulations.

The star announced her pregnancy in December, sharing photos of her baby bump.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: "I thought this year couldn't get any better after marrying the man of my dreams but it turns out it can ... Can't wait to become a mummy in 2023".

It's the latest cause for celebration for the actor, as she tied the knot with her partner Dan on September 24, after they had to cancel twice.

Rebecca has previously teased that she could return to her role in the soap in the future after exiting as Adam finally admitted and apologised for what he did to Lyida when they were students at university after she pushed him over the balcony in harrowing scenes.

Rebecca said: "I think now we have have that redemption, people have seen she is not just this crazy woman just doing it for no reason, it would be good to explore it a bit more.

"And what she is really like as a person, I’d love to do it!"

Rebecca has admitted her role was "daunting" at first, especially coming from Manchester herself.

"I don’t tend to get very nervous when I do things and act but I was so nervous in my first week. This is Coronation Street, it’s a big deal. But the cast and crew put me at ease and made me instantly comfortable, they’re amazing and it was such a lovely experience."

"I really have had the best time. When you find out you have a job on Coronation Street, it’s daunting.

"It’s an iconic show, it’s not just any show especially when you come from Manchester," she shared to Metro.

Rebecca's brother Jack James Ryan, who also stars in Corrie as Jacob Hay, was one of the first to congratulate her, after she announced she was a parent, writing: "My new best mate."

Rebecca previously revealed to The Mirror that no one realised her brother was also on the soap too.

"Nobody at Coronation Street had any idea. When I joined, I’d be talking to people and say, ‘Oh, yeah, my brother works here’. And they’d go, 'Really, who’s your brother? What? Jack!'

"It’s a dream come true to be working on the show at the same time, but it’s a total coincidence," she said of her sibling.
