Coronation Street star Colson Smith faces setback as he prepares to leave UK for biggest challenge yet

Coronation Street star Colson Smith appears to be facing a setback as he plans to leave the UK for his biggest challenge yet. The actor, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, was wished luck back in February when he shared his next running ambitions with his social media followers.

Colson shocked fans when he revealed his epic 10 stone weight loss for the first time in 2020. He completely overhauled his lifestyle and documented his journey in his own YouTube film, Bored Of Being the Fat Kid. When lockdown hit, and the cast and crew suspended filming at the Salford-based set, Colson packed up and went back to his family and it was then he found his love of running.

Earlier this year, sharing two photos with his hundreds of thousands of followers, Colson could be seen running in a woodland area, sporting black sportswear and bright orange trainers. Revealing all, he said: "Sooooo… I’m finally running a marathon! Stockholm 2023. Seems the obvious next step on my fitness journey right?!?"

He went on to add: "Over the next few months as I structure my weekly running into a plan ahead of the marathon, I’m going to start sharing a lot more of my runs on here with you! See you in Stockholm!"

And appearing on ITV's Lorraine last week, Colson shared the unexpected reason he set his sights on the Swedish capital for the marathon. He told host Lorraine Kelly: "I wanted to run a marathon and I saw Stockholm and thought what a better reason than to go to the ABBA museum."

But with the marathon now edging closer, Colson shared a worrying update as he revealed he has suffered an injury setback. Sharing a photo of himself treading the pavements over the weekend, the 24-year-old, who is also a Leeds United fan, wrote: "I'm injured and my football team are getting relegated. Happy Sunday."

Last month, Colson felt like he needed to clarify a detail about his love of running. At the time, he was eight weeks away from the Stockholm marathon and he shared a reel to Instagram showing him getting up, getting into his running gear, and heading out into the fresh air.

After sharing the details of his run, the soap star took to the comments and said: "Having watched this back I’d like clarify that I’m not one of those people who talks about running at parties, even tho I’m starting to sound like one. I do have other attributes to my personality."
