Coronation Street star Charlie Condou's sister Niki has died after battle with cancer

Coronation Street star Charlie Condou has revealed that his sister Niki Shisler has died after a long battle with cancer.

The soap actor shared the tragic news of his sister's passing on social media with his 154,100 followers.

He quote retweeted a post that shared a Just Giving page that was made in honour of his sister.

"We are honoured to have been chosen as the charity in memory of Niki Shisler who died of ovarian cancer on January 16th 2022," the original tweet said.

"Supporting female and child victims of male violence was a cause very dear to her heart. https://justgiving.com/fundraising/niki-shisler-nia … Thank you Danny Shisler."

Retweeting the post, Charlie said: "In memory of my beautiful sister, who died a few days ago."

Actress Rebecca Front commented: "I’m so sorry, Charlie," while author and activist Shola Mos-Shogbamimu said: "I’m so sorry Charlie, how devastating. May her soul rest in perfect peace, my deepest condolences."

"I’m so sorry xx," Sue Perkins added. Coronation Street star Jane Danson posted: "Charlie, so very sorry to hear this. Sending love to you and your family x."

Radio 2's Gabby Roslin wrote: "Oh Charlie I am so so sorry. Sending you my deepest sympathies and so much love my darling."

Niki battled ovarian cancer for many years, with Charlie telling his fans about it in 2019.

At that point, she was already undergoing a third round of chemotherapy.

He had uploaded a picture of himself and his sister at the hospital. He wrote: "My bloody incredible sister, a true warrior, role model, inspiration and all round badass.

"She's just started chemotherapy for her third bout of cancer with an abundance of grace, serenity and acceptance. I'm in awe. I love you."

He had shared that post as part of International Women's Day.

Fans went to the comment section to share their support, with many posting heart emojis.

"What a gorgeous and courageous woman," one user had written at the time, while another said: "Sending my love to you both x."

Another wrote: "What a beautiful lady, wishing you strength and love x."
