Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon reveals baby son's quirky name and sweet story behind it

Lucy Fallon has revealed her newborn son's name.

The Coronation Street star and her boyfriend, footballer Ryan Ledson, became parents for the first time on 30 January, after previously experiencing pregnancy loss.

Speaking about their son's moniker in a new interview, Lucy explains how there is no particular meaning behind the name but it was just one of the few titles both she and Ryan could agree on.

Preston North End player Ryan jokes how "as a scouser" there was "no chance" his son was going to be called something quirky, but admits "as the pregnancy progressed, we were calling him Sonny."

Speaking to OK! magazine, Lucy reveals their son's name is Sonny Jude and recalls: "I kept adding names to a list. I liked a lot of names that Ryan didn’t. Some were a bit out there, like ‘Fox’."

Discussing the road to becoming a mother, the soap star adds: "It’s been a roller-coaster of high and low moments, with lots of tears along the way.

"When Sonny was finally born, we were both sobbing – but happy tears."

Lucy announced her son's arrival into the world at the start of this month, with her celebrity pals and Corrie co-star's rushing to congratulate the new mum on her bundle of joy.

The soap star, 27, took to Instagram to share the exciting news with her followers, alongside a beautiful picture of the tiny newborn. Captioning the post, she wrote: "Our beautiful boy. 30/01/2023."

Lucy's fans and famous friends rushed to offer their congratulations.

Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Connor on Coronation Street, wrote: "Congratulations both of you.. gorgeous news Lucy!"

Mollie Gallagher, who plays Nina Lucas on the ITV soap, commented: "Awww congratulations," adding three red heart emojis.

Pearl Mackie, who starred alongside Lucy in Sour Hall added: "Congratulations Lucy!!!" Actress Natalie Anderson said: "Awwww how beautiful!! congratulations darling!!"

Lucy announced in September that she was pregnant with her first child but the couple initially kept it secret after suffering a tragic miscarriage in March at seven weeks.

The new mum told how she was "scared but excited" ahead of welcoming their little one to the world.

Lucy and Ryan discussed their devastating loss with the Mirror after their pregnancy announcement, with Lucy saying: "It was a traumatising, horrendous time.

"We went for a scan and they couldn’t see anything, so then we went to the hospital and they thought they could see something, so it was very up and down.

Lucy recalled Ryan being 'so supportive' (Daily Mirror)

"I had pregnancy symptoms and I was feeling really unwell. There were no signs I’d had a miscarriage, so that made it more of a shock. We just assumed everything was going to be fine.

"Then after a week when they’d done the blood tests and other tests, I went back and they said I’d miscarried. It was a really strange feeling.

"Even though so many people go through it, you never expect it will happen to you. I had imagined this little person who was going to come into our lives and then they were taken away from me.

"It was really horrible to deal with, but thankfully Ryan was so supportive."
