Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon announces she's pregnant after miscarriage heartbreak

Congratulations are in order for Lucy Fallon who has shared the news she's expecting her first child with footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson. The former Coronation Street actress, who played Bethany Platt on the ITV soap from 2015 to 2020, is five months pregnant.

The 26-year-old revealed she's been keeping the joyful news secret after finding out she and Ryan are set to become parents. "It feels a lot more real now," Lucy told OK! Magazine, adding: "I don't think I look that pregnant at the moment, just like I've had a lot of KFC!"

Preston North End midfielder, Ryan, 25 continued: "We're really excited. I've always wanted to be a young dad so I can be active with them."

However, the couple's excitement has also come with some anxiety, as Lucy sadly suffered a miscarriage back in March. The actress bravely revealed the couple were dealt the devastating blow during an early seven-week scan.

"It was a traumatising, horrendous time," Lucy said. "I had pregnancy symptoms and I was feeling really unwell and when they were doing all these scans my symptoms were getting worse and worse and there were no signs I had had a miscarriage, so that made it more of a shock.

"We just assumed everything was going to be fine. Then after a week when they'd done the blood tests and other tests I went back and they said that I had miscarried. It was a really strange feeling."

Lucy, who underwent surgery to remove the pregnancy tissue, said Ryan was incredibly supportive throughout but explained the experience was understandably very difficult for him, too.

The couple are now looking to the future after their heartbreaking experience. The actress, who is due in February 2023, said: "We're very fortunate that it happened again for us.

"We weren't putting pressure on it and I was trying not to put pressure on myself and then it just ended up happening that way for us. It was obviously just meant to happen." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
