Coronation Street's Kate Ford rose to fame after starring in a Beatles video

Kate Ford is known for playing one of British soap's most iconic antagonists.

The Tracy Barlow actress has been one of the most well-known faces on the cobbles since 2002, but it was an unusual cameo that kickstarted her career in the limelight.

Her first job was to feature in a music video, for none other than The Beatles.

As Kate is 45 years old, some Fab Four fans might be wondering how this is possible.

But the song in question, Free as a Bird, was released in December 1995 - after being originally written and recorded in 1977 as a home demo by John Lennon.

The video depicts the point of view of a bird in flight.

It starts in a bedroom looking at photographs before flying out into the streets and looking at the Beatles through different stages of their careers.

Kate can be seen during a 1960s street scene.

After the cameo, Kate had small rolls in a number of shows including Doctors, before starring in an EastEnders spin-off, Ricky & Bianca, in 2002.

Later that year she walked into Weatherfield as Tracy and the rest, as they say, is history.
