Coronation Street fans were heartbroken for Ryan Connor as he faced life after an evil acid attack by stalker Justin Rutherford. In Wednesday night's Corrie (March 29) Ryan was in tears as he was updated in hospital after his ordeal.
Ryan, who took the force of a glass of acid meant for Daisy Midgeley on her wedding day, was told that they had removed damaged tissue, but it was too early to say the extent of his injuries. "We need to see how your face heals," he was told.
Fans had been wondering if the horrific attack might bring back Ryan's mum Michelle, played by Kym Marsh. But in this episode the ITV soap confirmed this wouldn't be happening as some news was delivered.

As they waited to see Ryan, Alya Nazir's gran Yasmeen asked if Michelle was coming. And Alya replied: "She can't get here, she's having an operation. I'll keep her posted."
Michelle left the cobbles in 2019 after being horrified to discover sleazy Ray Crosby, who once made sexual advances towards her, was the new owner of The Bistro which she ran with her late fiance Robert Preston. Michelle waved goodbye to Weatherfield for a new start in Dublin.
In the soap Ryan turned out not to be Michelle's biological son back in 2007 following a mix-up at the hospital. Michelle continued to raise Ryan, while also building a connection with biological son Ali Neeson.
The news of her being in hospital herself worried some fans. @judyhalescoffin shouted: "IS MICHELLE OKAY I NEED TO KNOW." And @ScarlettJimmy tweeted: "There’s honestly no realistic reason for Michelle not be there. Most mothers would just cancel the surgery unless it was an emergency." And @chippytea_said: "The saddest thing about Ryan’s attack is that he has no family on the street at all We need Michelle!"
@fussyMcWhiskers decided: "It really doesn't make sense Michelle not being there for Ryan. They could easily bring in a new actress to be Michelle - it has been done so many times in Corrie - Gail's Nick has gone through a metamorphosis countless times!" But @DavidMackayy said: "At least they remembered Michelle exists."
