Coronation Street fans unhappy as Craig Tinker star changes his signature look

Colson Smith has left Coronation Street fans disappointed as he showed off a new look this weekend.

The soap star is renowned for his role as PC Craig Tinker on the long-running ITV show. Colson first appeared on the show when he was 12 years old and quickly became one of the cobbles' most beloved characters.

The 24-year-old took to Instagram on Friday to show his many followers a new look.

Colson had grown a beard during some time away from filming Corrie. Posing for a selfie in his car, wearing a black hoodie and matching cap, the actor looked very serious.

Captioning the photo, he said: "Grew a beard for a bit, anyways I’ve shaved it off for the return of Craig Tinker…" He later commented on the post: "It’s already gone I’m afraid folks. TINKS will always be a baby faced copper!"

Fans were clearly unhappy as they seemed to like the beard. Wendi said: "Bring that to Corrie! You need an 'edge'!"

Delores said: "Can't you persuade the show to let you have it? Looks great", and Jess said: "Beard looks fab, really suits you!!" Kian said: "Deffo keep it. Where’s a petition for the producers!?"

Marilyn said: "Love the beard. I think ‘our Craigie’ should grow a beard too".
