Many Coronation Street fans were left stunned to learn of Helen Worth's real age, especially when comparing it with that of Audrey Roberts actress Sue Nicholls.
Helen has played Gail Platt on the cobbles for almost four decades, having arrived in the long-running ITV soap back in 1974. Sue, who plays Gail's mother Audrey, signed up in 1979.
The mum and daughter haven't had the easiest relationship over the years. One story-line even saw Gail try to steal her mother's man.

Conman Lewis Archer had an on-off relationship with Audrey Roberts between 2010 and 2019, crossing paths with the supposed love of his life three times in all. They first met when Audrey purchased his escort services after finding she needed a date for an event.
Gail later seemed to fall for him too, only he was out for revenge. He had tricked her into parting with £40,000.
Things have been strained between Audrey and Gail in recent episodes, too, as Audrey's drinking has become more problematic. Corrie fans have been left reeling by something else altogether though.
Taking to a Coronation Street fan group on Facebook, one soap lover dropped a bombshell. She said: "Just checked..., in real life Audrey is 78 and Gail is 71".
It's true, while Audrey is 84 years old and Gail is 64, the on-screen mother and daughter are just seven years apart in real life. Many fans were quick to express their shock in the comments section.
One Corrie fan said: "Wow! But they do work as mother and daughter. I remember Audrey as Marilyn in Crossroads, she was very young." Another said: "That's a surprise. I thought Gail was only in her early 60s".
A third said: "Gail looks amazing for her age". A fourth added: "Wow. I didn't realise Helen Worth was that age. She looks easy 10 years younger."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
