Coronation Street viewers reckon they've spotted a huge blunder as Elaine Metcalfe ended up in hospital after being drugged by Stephen Reid.
On last night's episode of the ITV soap, Elaine was completely unaware that her future husband has taken out a life insurance policy in her name and is trying to cash in a bid to buy Carla Connor's shares in Underworld.
Earlier this week, rival businessman Owen Longford, who is hoping to bag Carla's share, discovered that Stephen has been trying to ruin his chanced of a romance with Jenny Connor and during a moment of heated words between the two, Owen said that he would sack him from the factory as soon as the contracts are signed, writes The Manchester Evening News.
Stephen then decides to have a word with Carla in private, urging her to reconsider the sale of the factory. Carla says that she will consider his offer if he can come up with the money.
Knowing that it's not quite possible, Stephen furiously trashed the factory floor after sending staff home. Back at home, Stephen suggested again to Elaine that they should buy Carla’s share of the business.
However, Elaine isn't interested and says she won't invest a penny in the factory and tells him that they should just enjoy their retirement.
Stephen is furious but later decides to switch Elaine's blood pressure pills with caffeine pills.
He then realised the blood pressure pills he had replaced with caffeine pills weren't quite working fast enough and resorted to lacing Elaine's tea which he has form for having done this to his boss Carla but with LSD. Elaine then took a funny turn and Stephen swiftly made an made an excuse to get out of the house at the same time.
His future wife then collapsed and hit her head as she fell. The businessman and secret serial killer then arrived back in time to find Elaine unconscious, but quietly backed out of their home to keep him from getting caught.
Later Sally Matcalfe met him in the street to inform him Elaine had fallen but regained consciousness and was able to call 999 for help. Over at the hospital, son Tim eventually arrived and Elaine explained that she'd felt dizzy and had to call for help.
The doctor announced the good news that Elaine would be able to return home the following day much to Stephen's disappointment. But Tim appeared to be onto Stephen as he shared his concerns with Sally as he was confused about Stephen's explanation for where he was at the time of Elaine's collapse.
Tim told her: "I've got a funny feeling… I'm telling you, there's something that just doesn't add up about his story..."
And many Corrie fans took to Twitter to talk about something they spotted whilst watching that just 'didn't add up' to them.
One said: "You're telling me the doctors won’t do tests and find different drugs in her."
Another commented: "Does none of these Dr's do blood tests."
While one tweeted: "Why do no doctors in this hospital do blood tests. Every time I’ve been in hospital that’s the first thing that they do #Corrie."
And when there was mention of the blood test, one said: "Blood tests? Blood tests? Finally thought they didn't exist on the cobbles #corrie."
But the results clearly didn't matter as @fansvfavourites noted: "You mean they haven’t found all the excess caffeine in her blood #Corrie."
