Coronation Street fans say character detail has 'own acting role' as they ask 'what's going on'

Coronation Street fans were left asking 'what's going on' as they noticed a change in David Platt. The character was seen on screens in the ITV soap on Wednesday night (May 17) as he went to visit his son, Max, as concerns continue to grow for the teen as he remains int the STC.

Max has so far spent months in a juvenile detention facility after pleading guilty to encouraging terrorism. The character, played by Paddy Bever, was groomed by eco-warrior Griff Reynolds into his terrifying racist gang which saw Alya Nazir, Maria Windass and former Speed Daal waiter Daryan become targets when a bomb was planted in the middle of the street.

Despite previously keeping schtum on what happened when a test bomb exploded and left him in hospital, Max finally came through, with the help of one of Griff's pals' daughter Lauren, when they realised something bad was going to happen. After convincing Alya and her grandmother Yasmeen that he was telling the truth, Alya found a bomb and drove the van away from the cobbles.

But that wasn't the end of the horror as later, teenager Blake appeared intent on causing damage as he live-streamed his visit to Maria's refugee drop-in being held at Speed Daal. Upon seeing the propaganda videos Max helped create for Griff's gang, Blake decided to pull his own horrifying stunt.

Max tried to stop him after seeing his live video but it was too late and Blake launched towards Maria before Alya saved her life. It was in February that viewers first saw Max in the detention centre, having moved after being beaten by his fellow inmates, as he was visited by a less than sympathetic Alya.

But this week, Corrie fans have seen David quizzing Max closely about his mental state which leads Max to realise David's been talking to Daniel Osbourne. Previously, viewers saw Max swipe Daniel's phone before slipping it back onto Daniel’s desk. At No.1, Daniel scrolled through his phone and finds Max’s video diary. In the Rovers, Daniel watched Max’s heart-rending video.

Meanwhile, David visited Max hoping that he'd open up to him like he did in the video but Max gave nothing away. Next week, David is forced to admit that he saw the video he made for Daniel, leaving Max furious. However, they have since been continuing with the videos as a way of communicating their feelings with one another.

And during his latest visit with Max, the troubled teen slowly admitted to David how guilty he feels about what happened. But steadfast in his response, David told Max that he was groomed and to keep going as he's close to being released. David then emotionally told Max that he loves him, leaving Max grateful for his support.

But before the heartbreaking moment between the pair, David was seen in Roy's Rolls chatting to his wife Shona. And his hair caused a major distraction for Corrie viewers who flocked to social media to comment.

@spartacus2963 asked: "What’s with Platt’s and bad hair days?? #Corrie." @KerryFr14902535 echoed: "Whats going on with David's hair....#corrie." @Zombiechick1967 quipped: "David's hair gets higher with each episode, he's gonna have to start ducking to get through doors soon #Corrie #CoronationStreet."

@carol.radcliffe.16 posted: "What’s goin on with David Platts hair. Looks like he’s been to Audrey’s for shampoo and set." @margo._clark jokingly replied: "It's got it's own acting roll. Probably it's own bank account too."
