Coronation Street fans were left reeling after finding out Stu's big secret - but viewers are expecting a huge twist.
Stu and Yasmeen have been going from strength to strength after her difficult relationship with evil and abusive Geoff, but things took a bad turn during Friday night's episode, as his ex-wife arrived on the Cobbles with some big news.
Stu has turned his life around, and has been trying to get in contact with his daughter Bridget, but he was dealt a difficult blow tonight, as his ex appeared and told Yasmeen his big secret much to her shock.
She revealed he had "killed" someone - with the Speed Daal owner left reeling by the news. However, fans of the ITV soap think they've rumbled a twist in the storyline - that Stu wasn't actually responsible for what happened.
"Oh Stu was wrongly convicted. He'll turn into to a hero and get huge compo. #corrie," one fan suggested, as another added: "He doesn’t give off murderer vibes, I’m wondering if she ran out into the front of his car or something… #Corrie."
A third shared: "Don’t believe Stu’s a murderer @itvcorrie," with a fourth adding: "I think he was wrongly accused and found guilty."
" #Corrie Don't believe Stu is a cold blooded murderer. It will have been some kind of accident or self defence," a fifth suggested.
Actor Bill Fellows has teased there will be some huge "twists and turns" to come yet.
Speaking about the storyline, he said: "When [producer] Iain MacLeod first told me the storyline, I thought it was a great storyline and I liked the twist. He then told me that Stu had been in prison for 27 years which surprised me and he told me that Stu had had an affair with a young waitress when he was married and had a child at home and that was a surprise too!
"But that's why I call Stu a flawed character and I love this storyline because I love that Stu is flawed, I like that he's made mistakes."
He added to Digital Spy: "Without giving the game away, there are loads of twists and turns in this storyline, it's not just that Stu needs to prove his innocence… There are loads of elements to this story that come into play. This bombshell has blown up now."
