Emotions were running high in Weatherfield on Wednesday night as usually happy Coronation Street couple Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew saw their relationship rocked by an affair.
The two characters - played by Peter Ash and Daniel Brocklebank respectively - could now be heading for a split after Paul admitted he had been unfaithful.
But it’s not just Billy who has been left devastated by the revelation - as Coronation Street fans flooded social media to express their distress about the scenes too.

The confession appeared to almost slip out during scenes that aired on Wednesday night’s instalment of the long-running ITV soap.
Events from earlier in the week caught up with Paul as he had previously headed to a hotel bar to let off some steam after arguing with Billy and his mum.
While there, he ran into his ex-boyfriend Zack - and things quickly escalated between the pair as past passions were re-ignited with the help of some alcohol.
The pair headed to Zack’s hotel room where they kissed - although Paul ultimately pulled away and confessed he was dating someone else.
The incident seems to have played on Paul’s mind - and he soon came clean to Billy as the two relaxed at home.
Breaking down in tears, Paul told a confused Billy that he didn’t deserve him before tearfully confessing all.
An emotional, Paul said: ”I really am a piece of trash, I don’t know why you’re with me," to which Billy replied: “Neither do I.”
Furious Billy then stormed from the house as Paul begged to know if he was leaving him - with the former admitting he was unsure if he would take him back.
Distraught Corrie fans flooded Twitter to express their own conflicting emotions - as many were glad to see Paul coming clean over his actions, but feared the romance could be over.
One distressed fan tweeted: “Surely Billy can’t leave Paul with the way his future is he should be there to support him.”
Another commented: “#Corrie That scene with Billy and Paul just gave me goosebumps.”
Fearing for the couple's future, one fan tweeted: “Billy might dump Paul by the looks of things.”
But another argued: “Don’t feel sorry for Paul at all dying or not Billy should open his eyes and dump him.”
Some fans hoped that this could mean the end for the couple - and that Daniel Broderick's character could be written out as a result.
One posed: “Billy says he doesn't know why he's with Paul. With a bit of luck, he will go. He's been in Corrie far too long.”
But another viewer looked at the situation on balance, and tweeted: "Billy’s going to either leave Paul for good or forgive Paul. For me, I’d leave him ill or not. Once a cheat always a cheat!"
Coronation Street continues on ITV1 on Friday at 8pm.
