Coronation Street fans plead 'no' as they predict character will soon die

Coronation Street fans have been left extremely disappointed as they believe a much-loved character is about to become seriously unwell.

Viewers watched as a hilarious Evelyn Plummer prepared herself for dancing lessons. She was accompanied to them by Roy Cropper, though he left very early on.

He simply told her: "I have to go, I'm sorry".

Many fans at home thought Roy had been reminded of his dancing days with his late wife Hayley. Later, Evelyn thought the same. She asked Roy outright why he had left, and said she understood that he had left because dancing with her was "somehow disrespectful to Hayley's memory".

But Roy dismissed this. He said: "I did think of Hayley fondly, but that wasn't it". Evelyn was not pleased as she felt she had been abandoned for nothing.

Roy explained he hadn't been feeling well, prompting many Corrie fans to make the same prediction. Taking to Twitter, Orla said: "Do not take Roy Cropper from us", while Jen said: "No, not Roy. He's my fave, the producers must protect him at all costs". [sic]

Dan said: "Not ready for Roy health scares yet" and Kel said: "If anything happens to Roy I'll lose my s***". Eilidh said: "It better not be anything serious. I couldn't cope if anything happened to Roy".

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
