Coronation Street viewers were startled to see a "missing" character finally make a reappearance.
Summer Spellman fled the cobbles a few weeks ago, after news of her pregnancy came to light and people's reactions were less than positive. The troubled teenager planned to become a surrogate for a pair of newcomers to the show but was quickly turned off the idea after it was proposed she'd be seen as a "money-grabbing con artist."
Caught between a rock and a hard place on what to do, she fled, leaving only a note in her place. In tonight's episode, Summer returned to the street but only briefly to apologise for her exit and to offer a quick explanation of what she's been doing.

The sudden re-emergence took Corrie fans by surprise as Summer was the last person they expected to see on their screens any time soon. One viewer said: "I thought Summer left?????????" Another added: "Obsessed with Summer just disappearing, go on gal go live your life."
A third viewer said: "Summer klaxon!!" A final added: "I love the way Summer has just disappeared of the face of the Earth until now."
Summer turned up to the home of the couple who planned to adopt her baby, Mike and Esther, stating she had a brief Christmas job as a scapegoat for her disappearance. The pair welcomed Summer into their home but questioned her on whether or not the surrogacy plans were still on the table, leading to an awkward silence.
