Coronation Street fans 'expose' Laurence’s link to evil serial killer Pat Phelan

Coronation Street fans have told how Sean Tully (Anthony Cotton) may have had a lucky escape after being dumped by Laurence Reeves.

Viewers of the Weatherfield drama watched scenes as Laurence left his love interest Sean and the cobbles for good — but fans fear there may be a much more sinister reason for the dentist's departure — claiming he could be linked to street serial killer Pat Pheelan.

Often unlucky in love, Sean thought he'd found his soul mate in Laurence at long last but after undertaker Todd Grimshaw ( Gareth Pierce ) digs into his past and pushes for answers to his wife Lindsey's death.

Speaking about the scenes, actor Anthony explained: ''Sean doesn't have a motive for anything. He messes up and can be deeply irritating at times but it is never through malice.

He added:''Even when it comes for a protective place over Sean and it is something that Sean should be told about it very quickly also turns into Todd being excited that he has this news to tell.'

But it wasn't until during break-up scenes Laurence opened up to Sean about his 'guilt' over Lindsey's apparent tragic 'walking accident' that fans fear the dental surgeon could have blood on his hands.

And they weren't the only ones as Sean's teenage son Dylan wasn't convinced his dad's ex's departure wasn't linked to his past coming to light.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "Laurence is definitely a killer. I think he could be related to Pat Phelan", one of them recently Tweeted while another added: "Todd comparing Laurence to Phelan!"

The serial-killer was a menace in the cobbles and responsible for killing of a number of characters before falling into the sea during a storm.

Twisted serial killer Pat was finally killed off but a fan fears Laurence could be linked to him after his wife's death is exposed (PA)

Former builder Phelan returned to the Street seeking out his ex nemesis Anna Windass, who cast the ultimate revenge by stabbing him in the chest.

Meanwhile fans and actor Anthony would love to see Rovers barman Sean settle down and find his happy ever after as he's had a string of ill-fated relationships.

Antony added :'Without a doubt it would be fantastic to see a big gay wedding on the street and yes it would be a lovely storyline for Sean with mishaps along the way, things getting cancelled and people not turning up but with a lovely happy day at the end."

Coronation Street continues to air every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
