Coronation Street fans demand to know where they've seen newcomer before

Coronation Street viewers were introduced to a newcomer they recognised during Friday's episode.

Sarah Platt met with some new business associates at Speed Daal to try to secure a deal for a new underwear range. One of the potential new buyers was a man named Owen, and many fans watching at home were sure they recognised him from somewhere.

Taking to Twitter, Mark said: "Where do I recognise him from?", while Pam said: "Where have I seen the guy talking to Sarah? What soap was he in?"

Craig said: "Someone please tell me who the guy who’s met with Sarah is. I know he’s been in something else and it’s really bugging me".

Owen is played by Ben Hull, who played Lewis Richardson in Hollyoaks from 1997 to 2001. He later starred as Gary Parr in Brookside, and he's actually had a Coronation Street role before, too.

Ben played Mark Lacey for one episode of Corrie back in 1995. The character was a business associate who met with Steve and Vicky McDonald at a casino.

And it's not just business on Owen's mind, as Inside Soap reports he will soon find love on the cobbles too.

It comes after serial killer Stephen has claimed his most recent victim. After killing Jenny's fiancé Leo Thompkins, he then murdered Leo's father Teddy, who had come to Weatherfield to investigate.

With Owen set to win over Jenny's affections, could he be doomed to a similar fate?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
