Coronation Street actor Rob Mallard has hinted at what is to come for his character on the cobbles Daniel Osbourne, as he opens up about the future of the teacher's future in Weatherfield as part of the popular ITV soap.
It comes as the teacher faced a difficult time in court in recent episodes as he took to the dock to give evidence over Justin Rutherford's stalking, who is played by fellow acting co-star Andrew Still, as a key witness in Justin's acid attack trial.
Fans of the ITV British soap watched on at the terrifying moment Justin went to throw acid at Daniel's fiancé Daisy Midgeley, played by Charlotte Jordan, on her wedding day when Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) jumped in front of her to save her from the attack.
Daniel had attempted to keep calm as the defence harshly quizzed him on his fiancée's character, unaware that she had recently shared a kiss with Ryan.
And now, opening up about the trial scenes, Rob said as reported Daily Star: "The end of the trial signals the end of a chapter in their lives that they would rather forget.
"But it’s the start of this triangle that now exists between Ryan, Daisy and Daniel.
"As much as he should be the one that’s on Daisy’s arm, he can’t also say 'Right Ryan, can you go away now?'
"Daniel has to be sensitive to the severity of what happened between Daisy and Ryan. Daniel now has this awkward role of understanding why Daisy and Ryan are keeping each other around while also wishing Ryan would just go away.
"We will see Daniel start to measure up aspects of himself to Ryan and there may be some butting of male egos."
Rob continued to reveal who he thinks is more suited to Daisy, as he added: "I think Daniel. Ryan is a DJ and probably on paper, he looks a better fit because he’s into social media and entertainment but I think the difference between Daisy and Daniel really complement each other.
"Daisy has made Daniel a lot more confident and outgoing and Daniel has made Daisy care less about superficial things because she now has a connection to Bertie and she understands the importance of being a caregiver and deeper things than getting likes on social media."
Fans will have to wait and see what's next for Daisy and Daniel as they tune into the latest dramas at the cobbles.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
