Coronation Street actress Barbara Young has died peacefully aged 92 surrounded by loved ones.

The actress was best known for playing Doreen Fenwick in the long-running ITV soap in 2007. The late star also appeared in Hollyoaks, Midsomer Murders, and Last of the Summer Wine.

Her death was confirmed by her daughter Liza Pulman who announced that her mum died peacefully on Thursday surrounded by her family. In a lengthy statement, the 54-year-old announced that her ‘beautiful’ mother had ‘slipped away.'
