Actress Jennifer Wilson who starred in Coronation Street and Doctors has died aged 89.
A family friend said the soap star had died at her home in France last week.
Ms Wilson’s cause of death has not been revealed.
The performer was born in London on 25 April 1932.
Her 50-year career began shortly after she left famed acting school RADA.
Initially she started out as a stage actress, taking on roles in Twelfth Night and Macbeth, before making her television debut as Kate Nickleby in the BBC TV serial Nicholas Nickleby.
During filming, Wilson met future husband Brian Peck who was also acting in the show.
Other TV credits over the years included Collect Your Handbaggage, The Second Mrs Tanqueray and Time and the Conways.
Her best known role was as a character named Jennifer Kingsley in the 1970s series The Brothers.
The show ran for seven seasons and 92 episodes between 1972 and 1976 with Wilson starring in all seven seasons of the drama.
Other prominent roles were as Mrs Bradbury in Coronation Street and Lily Compton in Casualty.
She also had a recurring role as Nancy Milne in the BBC lunchtime soap Doctors, featuring in three episodes between 2014 and 2015.
Previously she played a character named Maureen Vickerstaff on the same show back in 2003.
Wilson’s husband died in 2021.
She is survived by daughter Melanie, an actress and singer, along with her grandsons Tobie and Ashley.
