Several buildings on the corner of a busy Edinburgh west end street could be turned into a 100-bedroom hotel.
A planning application has been submitted on behalf of Chris Stewart Group which would see the corner of Queensferry Street and Shandwick Place transformed into a 115-room hotel and aparthotel.
Several of the blocks which are subject to be involved in the development are currently vacant, while others are in use as office space, a former nightclub venue and a restaurant. If the plans are successful, the former Scotbet shop would become part of the hotel, and Vesta restaurant would also see its door closed temporarily.

According to a design and access statement, "The site has seen a number of piecemeal development changes over time, largely driven by commercial interests. This has resulted in a patchwork of varying façade styles, materials, window openings and proportions.
"This new proposal will help unify the blocks and create one coherent hotel/aparthotel proposal."
According to the plans, the hotel/aparthotel will be 'high quality' with a range of potential occupiers interested. It will also be operated and staffed 24 hours a day, with an estimated 30 jobs being created.
The first floor extension at the rear of No. 12 Shandwick Place will be removed and replaced by an additional three floors of hotel/aparthotel accommodation extending to the existing mews building facing Queensferry Street Lane.
The extension to the rear of 4-8 Queensferry Street will sit above the current single storey 1-3 Queensferry Street Lane, which will be demolished and rebuilt. The extension responds to the different character from street to lane. The quality of Queensferry Street Lane is "poor" and the interventions seek to "improve" this.
Most of the ground floor commercial units will be unaffected, while the former Scotbet shop forming part of the hotel lobby. To view the full application, you can do so here.
