Cork City bolster attack by signing Bohemians striker on loan

Cork City have bolstered their attack by signing Ethon Varian.

The newly promoted Rebels have landed the striker on a season long loan from Bohemians.

A Cork native, Varian went to games at Turner’s Cross when he was younger and saw Cork City boss Colin Healy playing for the Leesiders.

Varian, 21, said: “I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans as a Cork City player.

“I grew up supporting the club and I’ve some great memories at Turner’s Cross from when I was younger.

“I’m hoping I can give the City fans something to cheer about and, hopefully, we can create more great memories next season.

“The club has had some great times and we want to get Cork City back up there where the club should be.

“We want to make next season a successful one, and I’m looking forward to playing my part in that.”

Varian joined Stoke City in 2021 and had a loan spell with Raith Rovers in Scotland before moving to Bohs where he scored twice in 13 appearances this year.

City boss Healy said: “Ethon gives us another attacking option for the coming season, so I’m very pleased to have him on board.

“He’s a young, hungry player who wants to play games and improve, and he’s a Cork lad as well.

“He played Premier Division football last year and got a few goals, so we’re looking forward to working with him and helping him develop as a player.”
