Corey Johnson could be in line to make his first Super League appearance of the season for Leeds Rhinos on Friday night after being dramatically withdrawn from Bradford's team to face Leigh on Monday.
Johnson was named in the starting line-up for John Kear's side at Leigh in the televised Championship fixture on Monday. He was going to partner Declan Patton in the halves for the Bulls at the Leigh Sports Village.
But in a dramatic turn of events, the Bulls tweeted less than 50 minutes before kick-off that Johnson had now been replaced in their 17-man squad by Huddersfield loanee Chester Butler, with Billy Jowitt switching from fullback to half-back and Ryan Millar starting.
Just two hours earlier, the Rugby Football League had confirmed that Leeds hooker Brad Dwyer had received a one-match ban following the tackle which led to him earning a yellow card during Saturday's game against Warrington Wolves.
With Johnson earmarked for a prominent role in Leeds' plans this season, it looks likely that the young hooker was recalled at the last minute after Leeds learned of Dwyer's ban.
With Dwyer unavailable for Friday's trip to Wigan, Johnson could now be in line to have a shot at the Rhinos first-team for that game as Leeds consider their next move selection-wise after a frustrating start to the season.
Harry Newman was injured in their pre-season game with Hull, while Blake Austin was controversially banned at short notice in the run-up to Saturday's opener.
Dwyer and James Bentley both received suspensions for offences during that game, leaving Richard Agar with a number of issues to ponder.
