Cops seize more than £28k in drugs and cash during significant operation in Paisley

Cops swooped in on multiple addresses across Paisley and seized more than £28,000 of cash and drugs as part of a significant operation.

Officers from the force’s Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit and Paisley’s community policing team raided a total of six locations in Paisley in a bid to tackle the blight of drugs in the community.

They carried out an extensive searches of a property in Castle Gait and three properties in Ferguslie Park where they uncovered a large quantity of substances believed to be heroin, herbal cannabis and amphetamines as well as hundreds of pounds in cash.

Searches were also carried out on a further two properties during the two day operation on Wednesday and Thursday, however, no illegal substances were recovered.

The Class A and B drugs recovered have been sent away for testing and are understood to have a total street value of more than £27,000.

The heroin recovered has a street value of £26,000 while he cannabis has been estimated to be worth £1,000.

Officers also discovered the electricity meter at one of the Ferguslie Park addresses had been bypassed - meaning it doesn’t accurately record the amount of electricity being used.

Inspector Laura Hamill, of Paisley’s community policing team, said: “Officers in possession of search warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act attended at a number of addresses in Paisley on April 13 and April 14.

“Following searches of a total of six properties, officers involved with the Violence Reduction Unit and Paisley’s community policing team recovered a quantities of what is believed to be heroin, herbal cannabis and amphetamines.

“The estimated street value of the substances found at the properties is more than £27,000.

“Three men and a woman were arrested in connection with drug supply offences.

“A woman will also be charged under the Electricity Act.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Police in Renfrewshire are working to crack down on those supplying drugs in the community and are urging members of the community to come forward if they have any concerns about the supply of drugs in their area.

Inspector Hamill added: “This was a significant operation carried out by officers to target individuals responsible for supplying harmful substances across Renfrewshire.

“We will continue to investigate and carry out these operations to disrupt the supply of illegal substances in the community.

“We would urge any member of the public who has concerns about the supply of drugs to please get in touch with us.”
