Police investigating reports of a hate crime at a beach in Ayrshire have released CCTV images of a woman they want to speak to.

Investigators say a 42-year-old man was verbally abused and spat on at Irvine Beach Park at around 2pm on Saturday, June 10.

They are keen to speak to a woman captured on CCTV around the time of the alleged incident.

She is described as being white, with blonde hair and wearing clear rimmed glasses. Police say she was also wearing light blue shorts, a bikini top and black trainers.

A statement from Police Scotland said: “Officers are releasing an image of a woman they wish to speak to as part of an ongoing investigation into a hate crime incident in Irvine.
