Missing man found 'safe and well' after vanishing from Scots town

A missing man has been traced 'safe and well' two days after he vanished from a Scots town.

Stephen McHenery, 50, was last seen around 9pm on March 15 in the Larkfield area of Greenock.

Police launched an appeal to the public for help in tracing him on Wednesday.

Sergeant Scott Clark said: "Officers have been checking local CCTV and carrying out enquiries since Stephen was reported missing but so far there have been no further sightings of him and he has not been in touch with any family or friends, hence our concern.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may know where Stephen may be.

"We’d also ask Stephen himself to call police or his family to let us know that he is safe and well.

"Any information can be passed to officers via 101.

"Please quote reference number 3464 of Tuesday, 15 March, 2022, when calling."

On Thursday police revealed that Stephen had been traced.

He was found 'safe and well' that morning.

Locals were thanked for their efforts in the investigation.

Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police Division released a statement on the matter.

It read: "Police in Inverclyde would like to thank the public for helping officers to trace 50-year-old Stephen Mchenery who was reported missing from Greenock.

"Stephen was traced safe and well on Thursday morning.
