Coolio's Celebrity Big Brother moments too controversial to air and axe after Nadia row

Coolio's C elebrity Big Brother moments were too controversial to air and the rapper was eventually axed from Ultimate Big Brother version of the iconic Channel 4 show.

The late rapper, 59, appeared on the iconic reality TV show in 2009 but his time on the series sparked much controversy.

The musician, best known or his '90s hit Gangsta's Paradise, died on Wednesday from a suspected cardiac arrest, his manager has said. No official cause of death has yet been announced.

Coolio's longtime manager, Jarez, confirmed the star was visiting a friend in Los Angeles when they became concerned after he went to the bathroom and didn't return.

The rapper, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr is said to have been pronounced dead at the scene after his friend had called emergency services.

The rapper burst onto the music stage in LA in the late 1980s, but it was his '90s hit Gangsta's Paradise which made him an international star. The iconic tune, which was recorded to be the soundtrack for Michelle Pfeiffer's hit film Dangerous Minds, went on to become his signature song.

Following his success in the nineties, Coolio went on to star in Celebrity Big Brother alongside some of the UK's biggest stars including Shameless actress Tina Malone, Ulrika Jonsson, and Terry Christian.

While in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Coolio caused problematic issues on the show and was accused of bullying and being a 'sex pest' by fellow housemates.

The rapper was regarded as one of the most controversial contestants of all time thanks to his stint on the iconic show.

Sexist and racist remarks

Hundreds of viewers complained about the 'misogynistic' and 'sexist' way Coolio behaved towards singer and co-star Michelle Heaton during their time in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

In total, Ofcom received a staggering 527 complaints about the Gangsta's Paradise hit-maker due to his concerning behaviour towards the female housemates including presenter Ulrika Johnson and Shameless star, Tina Malone.

The musician also shocked his fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates with non-stop racist language and worrying details of his past.

After she stormed out of the house, Sugababes singer Mutya Buena detailed the 'sick' comments Coolio made about rape.

The furious star admitted that his most concerning and sexually-explicit remarks were not broadcast when she watched it back.

Mutya insisted that she walked from the show after being unable to put up with Coolio's behaviour any longer.

The agitated singer detailed her disappointment with Channel 4 bosses who should have done something to stop the rapper's indecent advances.

The Sugababes singer raged: "The producers should have stepped in to stop this earlier. Coolio is just a dirty old man who is old enough to be my father. He's a sex pest who would perv on me all the time. It just made my skin crawl. I do not know how he was allowed to get away with it, as far as I'm concerned he got away with murder."

Although Coolio cause havoc in the CBB house, the rapper was invited back one year later to join the All Stars series.

Celebrity Big Brother bosses decided not to air the rapper's most controversial moments, meaning that Coolio got a second chance at redeeming himself on the All Star series.

Although Channel 4 decided not to show viewers the extent of Coolio's behaviour, it was his housemates who were subjected to the 'taunting mannerisms, racist slurs and sexist remarks'.

After the sixth series of the iconic reality TV ended, the stars of the 2009 Channel 4 show detailed exactly what Coolio would say behind closed doors.

Bosses decided to cut out the endless slurs and swipes the rapper made during his 22 day stint in the infamous house.

After his explosive appearance on Celebrity Big Brother 2009, Coolio earned himself a place in the Ultimate Big Brother house.

The rapper was accused of 'showing his true colours' in the 2010 programme after he was booted out following a serious altercation with housemate Nadia.

Coolio was told to pack his bags and leave following a series of blazing rows with the Portuguese transsexual.

Unable to hide his remarks and behaviour this time around, Channel 4 were forced to take action and axe the star from the series.

Big Brother bosses said Coolio’s departure was “in the best interest of the house”.

The Gangsta’s Paradise star and former Celebrity BB contestant had been a source of constant tension.

He reduced housemate Nikki Grahame to tears on the first day by mocking the way she speaks and on his second day in the house, his relationship with Nadia reached boiling point.
