A Cadbury Heath man who admitted being controlling and abusive to his partner has been jailed. George Taylor disallowed the complainant from having a phone, a court heard.
It was also said Taylor did not allow her to take care of herself, fearing she would attract attention from other men. Taylor, 24, of Newton Road, pleaded guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour between July last year and May this year, as well as driving while disqualified in January 29 this year.
Judge William Hart sent him to prison for 12 months. The judge told him: "You need to think about the future and how you are going to behave towards your partner."

Susan Cavender, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court the relationship was initially good before Taylor ground the complainant down and would verbally abuse her. Miss Cavender said Taylor did not allow her to take driving lessons and was regularly violent to her.
Witnesses spoke of shouting and arguments between the couple, as well as times when the complainant suffered injuries. The court heard Taylor had previous convictions for battery of his parents as well as assaulting emergency workers.
Caitlin Evans, defending, said her client had been diagnosed with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She told the court: "It is clear the defendant's autism and ADHD inhibit his ability sometimes to communicate and understand the gravity of his actions and the effect on others."
Miss Evans said her client was exposed to violence in his upbringing. She said he had never had the benefit of a building better relationships programme and at 24 was capable of change.
