The huge contribution of West Lothian’s unpaid carers over the last 30 years has been recognised with a civic reception.
The reception was held at Howden Park Centre in Livingston to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Carers of West Lothian.
Provost Cathy Muldoon hosted afternoon tea for staff, unpaid carers and disabled people to mark the milestone, which was also attended by special guests including Depute Council Leader Kirsteen Sullivan, Depute Provost Peter Heggie and Depute Chief Executive Alison White and Elaine Cook.
Provost Muldoon said: “It was a huge honour to welcome Carers of West Lothian to Howden Park Centre to mark their 30th anniversary.
“COWL carry out a fantastic job of supporting unpaid carers and disabled people across West Lothian and deserve recognition for this.
“It was fantastic to meet the staff from COWL and some of the people they help, and hear some the inspirational stories from those involved.”
The charity provides information, advice and support to unpaid carers and disabled people across West Lothian.
Alison Wright, Chief Executive of Carers of West Lothian added: “We were delighted that West Lothian Council hosted a Civic Reception marking our 30th anniversary and invited unpaid carers and disabled people to join us at the event at the Howden Park Centre.
“We also see the event as recognition of the contribution that unpaid carers make to the West Lothian community and look forward to continuing to provide support over the next 30 years.”
