Hyderabad: Despite high court orders not to fill Yellamma Cheruvu in Kukatpally, the lake continues to shrink owing to illegal constructions, dumping of construction debris and the existing road located within its full tank level (FTL) limits.
The court took up the matter by converting a TOI report on laying of the road between Jayanagar Colony and Kukatpally over the lake into a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in October 2020 and ordering the works to be stopped. However, residents point out that on the night of February 7 this year, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials levelled the road.
