Deputy Commissioner R. Girish has instructed the officers to conduct a survey of tanks in the district and protect them from encroachers. He held a meeting of the district officers in Hassan on Thursday.
The officer instructed the officers to conduct the survey of 2,977 tanks belonging to Zilla Panchayat and 3,413 tanks in gram panchayats. The survey should be conducted immediately. The tank boundaries should be protected by making trenches. No constructions should be allowed within 30 mtrs from the tank boundaries, he said.
Deputy Conservator of Forests K.N.Basavaraj, Additional DC Kavita Rajaram and others were present.
