A North Lanarkshire business has won the title of Best Electrical Contractor in Scotland for the second year running.
CS Electrical came out top in the category at the Scottish Home Improvement Awards and was also highly commended for customer service.
Craig Stewart, the owner of the business which is currently based in Wishaw, was delighted to take the award again after winning it last year.
He said: “We didn’t think we’d win it again, we obviously knew we were in the final but there were a few big companies in it this year and we were treating it as a work’s night out to be honest. Our mindset was, we won it last year so just go and have a good night, and we weren’t expecting it so it was a good surprise."
The glittering seventh annual awards night ceremony was held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow and hosted by Des Clarke.
Family man Craig started up CS Electrical, which is an NICEIC Approved Contractor, around seven years ago after completing an apprenticeship. Prior to that he’d been through the youth ranks as a footballer at Motherwell FC.
“That seems a long time ago now,” Craig admits. “A lot has happened since then and I have two weans and a third on the way.”
He now has two electrical apprentices working full time for the business; Ryan Brown who is in the last year of his apprenticeship and Cole Saunders who is in the first year of his apprenticeship.
CS Electrical have built up a fantastic reputation and, prior to the consecutive Best Electrical Contractor awards, scooped best Alarm and CCTV Installers at the fifth Scottish Home Improvement Awards.
The company do all types of electrical work, from lighting to professional CCTV installation, to EV (electrical vehicle) chargers.
While the business has been based in Wishaw since it started up it will soon be moving to new premises in neighbouring Motherwell.
Work ins currently ongoing at premises in the town’s Spruce Street development in Orbiston Street.
Craig added: “We are in the middle of renovating the new unit. We’re going to have office space with a walk-in showroom for customers.
“For example, anyone planning a new kitchen or living room will be able to come in and see what we can do and we can give them an idea of how lighting will look and stuff like that. They can have a sit down with us and we can see what they are looking for.
“We do a lot of high-end stuff for kitchen companies that we have contracts with.
“We do a mix of everything, but it’s probably 50/50 between commercial and domestic.
“The new place will also give commercial customers somewhere that they can come in and see us. I think it can take us up a level.”
