Conor McGregor will not face criminal charges after being investigated for sexual assault at a Heat postseason game, the Miami Police Department announced Wednesday.
“The State Attorney’s Office will not go forward with any charges and the case will be closed,” the MPD said in a statement, via ESPN.
A woman described McGregor sexually assaulting her during Game 4 of the NBA Finals in June, saying he “violently” forced himself on her in a men’s bathroom. She also accused the Heat and NBA security of separating her from her friend, which she said contributed to the incident.
That led the Heat and MPD to investigate the incident. McGregor denied the allegations.
TMZ reports that there was an attendant in the bathroom at the time who said he “did not hear any signs of distress or sounds that would corroborate that whatever was occurring was not consensual.” Additionally, the woman reportedly did not tell her friend about the incident after the fact.
“In light of the above facts and circumstances, the State would not be able to satisfy its burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” prosecutors said in a memo, via TMZ.
