Conor McGregor turns to God as he attempts to get career back on track

Fans of Conor McGregor think the Dubliner is looking for divine inspiration to get his UFC career back on track.

While the 33-year-old's is accumulating an ever-increasing fortune, his results inside the octagon have been mixed at best.

Losing three of his last four UFC fights, including two successive losses to Dustin Poirier, has led to many questioning his desire to reach the summit of the sport once again.

Such questions have only been fuelled by his recent holidays around Europe on his private yacht.

But among a number of social media posts showing off his wealth and life of luxury, the Crumlin man has also shown his religious faith.

Recent pictures show McGregor in prayer and attending church.

The Notorious is a Roman Catholic and has had all of three children christened.

His youngest child Rian was christened in the Vatican, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, last year.

It comes as McGregor has teased a collaboration with music and film star Jared Leto after the pair crossed paths at a celebrity-packed Spotify event.

McGregor was in attendance to watch rapper Kendrick Lamar perform at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres on Monday. The event took place on the first day of the Cannes Lions Festival, with McGregor also spending time at the film festival in Cannes last month.

The UFC star was pictured in conversation with Leto, who is a big fan of MMA. Leto was in attendance for McGregor's last UFC outing, in which the Irishman broke his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy clash. Posting a picture with Leto, McGregor wrote: "Talking plots with Jared Leto and not movie ones."

Reflecting on the night, McGregor added: Thank you to the team at Spotify, an awesome night was had! An intimate beach concert with rap legend Kendrick Lamar! One thing is for sure, if it is music, it is Spotify! Great and glowing conversations about my fellow UFC colleague Joe Rogan, also! What a truly great, powerhouse of a company Spotify is! I was honoured to attend."

Leto has expressed interest in playing McGregor or UFC boss Dana White if a film was ever made about the promotion. McGregor caught onto the actor's comments and even invited Leto to practice the role with him.

"If we do the UFC movie, if I was younger, I’d play Conor McGregor. I got the beard,” he told Extra TV. "What Conor does and what these guys and gals do is just extraordinary. The athleticism, skill and commitment they've made, it would be nearly impossible to step in and fake that role.

"I think Conor would be an amazing, or Dana White. I’m too old to do Conor probably but you never know. We could maybe use some CGI (computer-generated imagery). If they could CG some of that into me, that would be a great story. I'd have to shave my head, go to Ireland and have a bottle of Proper 12."
