Conor McGregor is the highest-earning Irish sportsperson on Instagram, raking in €111,495 per sponsored post, it has emerged.
A study analysed the most followed figures from sports to reveal its top 10 highest earners on the social media site.
The Dublin MMA fighter – who has 46.2m followers has nearly 10 times the pulling power of second-placed Becky Lynch.
The WWE wrestler had 5.6m followers, which can generate an average €13,726 per plug. Despite her massive profile here and estimated net worth of nearly €3m, Katie Taylor is some way behind in third with a potential €1,931 per sponsored Instagram post.
Swinging into fourth place is golfer Shane Lowry, with an average Instagram earning of €986, with rugby star Conor Murray in position to get €903. Ireland defender Matt Doherty is sixth on €762, Co Down athlete Rhys McClenaghan is seventh on €348 and GAA stars TJ Reid and Brian Fenton are next with €259 and €222, respectively.
Olympic walker Rob Heffernan is last on €177.
Study authors Bettingtop10 Ireland said: “The list of the most influential Irish athletes on Instagram sheds light on the growing popularity of sportspersons as influencers with great followings on the social media platform.”
