Conor McGregor hits out at "smell bag" coach who made Jorge Masvidal prediction

MMA coach Mike Brown has been labelled a "smell bag" for his prediction about a potential fight between Conor McGregor and Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal recently called out McGregor for his next fight and accused the former two-weight UFC champion of being "too scared" to fight him. McGregor took aim at Masvidal's comments about his alleged assault of rival Colby Covington, labelling him "an absolute pigeon brain".

Talk of a fight between the pair have previously been dismissed by UFC boss Dana White because of their disparity in weight, but with McGregor recently bulking up to 190lb the fight seems plausible. Responding to Brown's recent comments about the fight, McGregor wrote: "Mike Brown is a little smell bag. Never a champ. Never produced one. Take a shower Mike the pong of B.O off you."

Former WEC champion Brown is one of the lead MMA coaches at American Top Team in Florida. He coaches UFC fighters such as Masvidal, Dustin Poirier and Amanda Nunes. Brown thinks a fight between Masvidal and McGregor would attract the biggest numbers of any card in UFC history.

“That would be incredible,” Brown told MMA Junkie of the potential fight. “I couldn’t imagine a fight that would be bigger. With both of their personalities and their fighting styles, I think it would be the biggest numbers the sport’s ever seen.”

“Conor’s obviously put on some size. It looks like, in his mind, he is looking to move up. I have no idea what his plans are, but maybe this is what he had his eyes set on. Obviously he has a plan and he has his eyes set on something, and it looks like it’s something at welterweight, and it might be Jorge.

"Jorge I think is one of the absolute biggest draws in the sport and one of the most exciting guys in the sport, so it would make a lot of sense.” Masvidal, who is without a win in three years, signed a new UFC deal before his last fight that makes him one of the highest-paid fighters in the promotion.

McGregor is in the final stages of recovering from a broken tibia he suffered in his trilogy fight against Poirier last July. The Irishman, who is unlikely to fight this year, has played down a return at lightweight and wants to challenge Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title in his comeback.
