Conor McGregor has been slammed for taking aim at PJ Gallagher and the comedian's recent mental health struggles.
Gallagher has been vocal about his battle with mental illness and spent time in St Patrick's University Hospital, having been admitted one year ago to the day.
And the former Naked Camera star has spoken candidly about his experience with mental illness having disappeared from our airwaves.
But UFC star Conor McGregor took aim at Gallagher online before deleting a tweet.
Posting at 1.32 am on 17 December, McGregor said: "@pjgallagher you little sad pox of a thing. Sit up right and smile for a change will you, you sad c*** hahahaha and your crying in the paper bout depression, posture like a prawn.
"Sad bastard. I am Ireland. Don't forget it. There's blood on my flag useesoo."
And Gallagher poked back at McGregor, sharing the deleted tweet, saying: "Excuse me! It took years of hard work and awkward walking to get the posture of a prawn. I am delicious!"
McGregor was slammed after his comments with former Fine Gael TD Noel Rock saying: "Jesus. Wow. His capacity to hit new lows never ceases to amaze me."
While former Dublin GAA star Vinnie Murphy said: "Graceless PJ, just keep being you mate"
While another social media user said: "Absolute low life comment. Then again, wouldn’t expect any better from him. A national embarrassment."
McGregor added in a Tweet before deleting: "Just countering his insults to me that's all. If a supposed advocate for mental health can direct unwarranted vitriol towards me online, then don't cry when it comes back. I am Ireland. I am Dublin. Through and Through. Born and bread. Raised my flag on the highest stage."
