Conor McGregor gets in cage in surprise appearance at Dublin event

Conor Mcgregor made a surprise appearance at Bellator Dublin this evening as he got in the cage to celebrate an SBG teammate's big win.

The UFC star thrilled fans as he made his entrance while Lee Hammond picked up a first win at the promotion thanks to a vicious first round TKO victory over Jamie Hay.

McGregor is currently sidelined as he recovers from a horror leg break against Dustin Poirier last July, but made sure to pay a visit for a huge night for Irish MMA.

The Dubliner stopped for selfies with fans and even got himself in the cage to celebrate with Hammond as a raucous Irish crowd cheered on.

After the bout, McGregor told reporters that Hammond's victory was 'flawless' as he claimed to predict.

McGregor then took his seat at cage-side to take in the rest of the action as fans look forward to a huge co-main event in Sinead Kavanagh v Leah McCourt.

And in his post-fight interview, Hammond said he was delighted the Notorious one showed up and what he said to him inside the cage.

"It means so much to me that Conor would come," Hammond told the Irish Daily Mirror after the bout. "He's usually a bit later!

"Conor's been helping me for ten years now and I'm very grateful that he would take time out of his very busy schedule to show up here today."

"He just told me 'congratulations and keep going', like he always does. He's very encouraging telling me to keep going forward.

"He wants me to reach new heights, that's what he said to me."

"Conor gave me some great advice before the fight," Hammond explained. "He told me to use the crowd, but not to let them get me too high.

"I just let it bring me to the right level and I didn't let it take it take over my emotions.

"I think he gets a good buzz any time he's at a fight and I'm very grateful for him showing his support."
