UFC legend Conor McGregor has shown his support for John Gotti III after his brawl with Floyd Mayweather.
Gotti, the grandson of notorious New York mob boss John Gotti, served as the opponent for Mayweather's latest exhibition fight as the pair met at the FLA Live Arena in Miami on Sunday night. The fight was stopped in the sixth round when Gotti was disqualified by referee Kenny Bayless, but the action didn't stop there as Gotti continued to throw punches at Mayweather.
Mayweather stood his ground and fought Gotti despite the fight being over, with the mad scenes continuing as teams of the two fighters then started brawling in the ring. Gotti proceeded to drag McGregor's name into the brawl when he said of Mayweather on Instagram: "Punk b****, you my enemy for life. [Conor McGregor], we need back up. Bum never put me down or stopped me it was a DQ for no reason."

McGregor replied to Gotti's comments as he posted a now-deleted Twitter voice note stating: "I back the Gottis, el tempo es dinero." When translated from Spanish to English, the second part of McGregor's comment reads "time is money". McGregor shared the ring with Mayweather in their 2017 'money fight' as Mayweather won by tenth-round stoppage in a historic bout that went on to become the second highest-selling pay-per-view in boxing history.
The ring wasn't the only place that a brawl occurred as the troubles also extended to the crowd, with fans in attendance at the Miami venue throwing punches at each other. The extent of the injuries that occurred as a result of the brawls is currently unclear. Local police quickly cleared the arena and threatened charges against any bystanders who did not leave immediately.
With brawls also taking place backstage, Mayweather could be seen in his dressing room as he said of the madness: "Man, that s*** was crazy". Gotti's sister Nicolette reacted to the brawl by launching an expletive fuelled rant aimed at Mayweather in which she promised to "come for his daughter".
Mayweather has been on an exhibition tour around the world since retiring from professional competition after his knockout win against UFC legend Conor McGregor in 2017, but none of his past exhibition bouts have descended into the chaos that took place in the Sunshine State.
