Conor Gallagher's Chelsea future questioned as pundit makes bold Liverpool transfer prediction

Conor Gallagher's future at Chelsea has again raised serious questions with one pundit suggesting the midfielder could potentially be suited elsewhere. Gallagher, 22, has found the net eight times whilst also registered five assists for the Eagles this season.

With his current loan deal set to expiry at the end of the current campaign, there has been no indication just yet from Thomas Tuchel as to where the England international's future does lay. Patrick Vieira, however, has made no secret of Palace's interest in keeping Gallagher at Selhurst Park.

Helping Vieira's side also reach the FA Cup semi-finals, the midfielder has showcased his talents to many suiters, with pundit Charlie Austin suggesting Jurgen Klopp's men would be an ideal fit for the player.

"I think for any football team would love to have Conor Gallagher," Austin told talkSPORT. "He’s so energetic, you look at him the way he plays, I think a lot of football fans see him play and would think ‘I would like him to be at my club’.

"I say yes," Austin added when asked by host Andy Goldstein if he would want him at Anfield. "I said he would be, not a replacement, not saying this for Jordan Henderson.

"But when Jordan moves on, or retires, or comes into a new football role, he [Gallagher] would be great for Liverpool."

With his future for now suggesting the 22-year-old will be looked at by Tuchel this summer, Austin also believes the Blues academy graduate does have the world firmly at his feet.

He added: "Him coming to Chelsea, I think it’s a perfect opportunity for him. As players, when an opportunity comes, you’ve got to take them and this one, I think Conor Gallagher will be looking at, as well as his representatives.

"Whether they are thinking what we can do next year. I think he will be looking at it and thinking: 'I’m going to try my best and give everything at Chelsea.'"
