Connor Goldson joins Aris Limassol after six years at Ibrox

After six years at Rangers, Connor Goldson has left the club.

Following weeks of speculation, and indeed formal negotiations, the defender has signed for Cypriot side Aris Limassol.

Signed by Steven Gerrard in 2018, Goldson featured over 300 times for the Ibrox side, winning a handful of honours and playing an integral role in the club's UEFA Europa League final journey in 2022.

Goldson was expected to play in Rangers' preseason encounter with Birmingham City last week, however failed to make an appearance after which manager Philippe Clement fielded an explanation.

He told Rangers TV: "Connor was planned to start today so that was the idea but there was a concrete offer for him so I allowed him to go and speak with this team.

"That's why he left today, to go and speak with this team and we will see in the next couple of days."

While profiling the central defender's career, the official Rangers website said this following Goldson's departure:  "[Connor's] double in a 2-0 victory at Parkhead in October set Rangers on their way, with Goldson playing every minute across a 56-game campaign in all competitions in 2020/21.

"The Englishman’s durability continued to astound supporters and managers alike as he featured over 60 times the following season as the Light Blues embarked on a memorable run to the UEFA Europa League final and, three days later, lifted the Scottish Cup in extra time at the national stadium.

"Success in the League Cup followed last December for Goldson in what would prove to be his final campaign at the club, and everyone at Rangers wishes him the very best of luck in his future endeavours."
