Connor Goldson holds Rangers title belief as bullish defender tells Celtic 'it's not finished'

Rangers defender Connor Goldson insists the title race is not over despite trailing table toppers Celtic by nine points.

Ange Postecoglou looks set to claim his second consecutive Scottish Premiership crown, with the Light Blues in need of a major collapse from their Glasgow rivals to stand any chance to lifting the title. But with two league clashes between the sides still to come, Goldson has refused to give up hope. Since Michael Beale stepped into the Ibrox hot seat Rangers have only dropped points against Celtic at Ibrox when they drew 2-2 back in January.

However, they have been unable to close the gap on the relentless league leaders, who have yet to slip up since the Londoner took over from Gio van Bronckhorst. When asked about their chances of winning the league ahead of the clash with Dundee United, Goldson said: “It’s not finished. Until it’s over we’re going to do everything we can.

"We have to play them twice so we’re going to do all we can but until it’s over we’re not going to stop trying. Of course it is (to be nine points behind) but one of the main things the manager said which sticks with me is ‘if we don’t win the league this season we’re going to win the league from now’.

"That’s all we can do and to be fair we’ve been on a run since he’s been here. To be fair to them we’re still nine points behind and there’s not much more we can do.

"We have to concentrate on us and win games of football. If it doesn’t happen this season we’ll know it was our fault from the start of the season and we still need to make sure we win the league from when the manager came in and put us in a good stepping stone for next season.”
