Rosendale had been competing for the GOP nomination to challenge incumbent Democratic Senator John Tester, who is currently serving his third term.
The announcement came only a few days into Rosendale's campaign, taking many by surprise. In a statement released by his campaign, Rosendale stated that he believes the former president's endorsement of former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy creates significant challenges for his campaign, ultimately leading him to withdraw from the race.
